Itinerary

This sixth leg of the first ever expedition world cruise will cover several UNESCO World Heritage sites in Sumatra and Sri Lanka and will end with an exploration of Alleppey's Backwaters. At the beginning, Silver Cloud will circumnavigate Sumatra. Starting with nature and its raw forces visible at Krakatoa we will then visit ethnic groups and their traditional lifestyles before hiking into the jungle in Gunung Leuser National Park, looking for the "forest people" -orangutans in Malay. In Sri Lanka and India we will see the interaction of Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity and how the different societies have reacted in Galle, Colombo and Cochin. Throughout the voyage, learn about the geology, botany, wildlife and history, as well as the mythology and spirituality which have a special place in the area through lecture presentations offered by guest speakers and your knowledgeable onboard Expedition Team.
