Itinerary

PONANT invites you to explore volcanic archipelagos during this cruise in the Atlantic Ocean, between Madeira and the Canary Islands. Enjoy this unforgettable 9-day trip aboard Le Dumont-d'Urville, with sumptuous landscapes and unique cultural heritage. Setting sail from Lisbon, the seven-hilled Portuguese capital, you will chart a course for Madeira, the island of the eternal spring. On this steep island covered in luxuriant vegetation, the variety of landscapes, including sheer cliffs, levadas, banana plantations, and laurisilva, never ceases to amaze visitors. Here you will discover Funchal, the capital of the Madeira Islands. Its Museum of Sacred Art, housed in a former bishop' palace, reveals Flemish paintings and precious jewellery. While the secrets of the production of the famous Madeira Wine will be the occasion for a pleasant experience. Then you will cruise towards Spain and the Canary Islands. You will first call at Santa Cruz de Tenerife, from which you will be able to discover the wonderful volcanic landscapes of Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your ship will then drop anchor at La Gomera. This tiny island with lush vegetation is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its biosphere reserve. This island is also renowned for its whistling language, Silbo, invented by the inhabitants to communicate from one valley to another. Then admire the volcanic landscapes that are so typical of Lanzarote before sailing to the island of Gran Canaria and Las Palmas, the end of your trip.
